May 15, Day 55, riding day 48, Suwanee, FL to Gainesville, FL, 77.3 miles, 2,928.1 miles cuml, about 100 miles to finish at St. Augustine

Today we had a hot flat ride from the Suwannee River area, north of Live Oak, to Gainesville, FL, home of the University of Florida. This was our long day for the last week, and ranged from 77 to about 89 miles depending on the exact route the riders chose. The weather is hot and muggy, about 89 degrees, and it seems a lot hotter when you are riding and have 20 more miles to go and your butt is sore.

Last night we went to the restaurant at the Suwannee Music park and had dinner during the Elvis impersonator show. The place was packed with blue-hairs who loved the show, as it included some Tom Jones numbers, the singer had tight pants on, and the geriatric crowd was up dancing as fast as they could. Poor 25-year old Luke did not last long at that show and was out of there.

I have included a picture of some fresh roadkill so you can see that Florida does have big juicy armidillos that are a bit too slow to cross the road.

We are all ready for the Atlantic Ocean in two (2) days!!!
