I am cycling across the country from San Diego to St. Augustine. This is my blog, please enjoy it. In conjunction with the ride, I am raising money for the Komen Breast Cancer Fund. Please consider donating by copying this link into your browser: Thanks!

May 9, Day 49, riding day 43, Milton, FL to DeFuniak Springs, FL, 59.7 miles, 2,610.4 miles cuml, approx 430 miles to go

Today we rode 60 miles to DeFuniak Springs, FL. We are staying at a private RV campground on Juniper Lake that is delightful, sunny, 75 degrees, breezy with friendly hosts. We have a day off tomorrow here to relax.

The ride was in the Florida alps, topping off at 250 ft. We are approximately 10 miles from Britton Hill, the high point of Florida at 345 ft. I visited there for about 5 minutes maybe 15 years ago on another quest.

I was the cook tonight and made 5-bean chili, quesadillas and ice cream cones. Steve was my co-cook but he left the ride last week so I received lots of help from Rita, Becky and others.

No dog chases so far in Florida!!! I have spotted about 5 dead armadillos in Florida, still further from Texas than I thought, but they are still way behind squirrels and snakes in the roadkill stats.
