April 15, Day 25, riding day 22, Sanderson TX to Seminole Canyon State Park, TX, 81 miles, 1,322 miles cuml

Thursday tax day we rode 80.5 miles. I made it in 7 hours and 10 minutes. We are staying in a remote, and I mean remote, state park, Seminole Canyon. It borders Mexico and there are Border Patrols everywhere. Unbelievably, there is wifi here amongst the cacti. If you have viewed the weather channel you know that west Texas is the place to avoid. Well, we cannot get out of it. This was our third wet day, and it was very wet at times with wind in our faces. Maybe 3 more days of bad weather before it turns good. We went from Sanderson 60 miles to the next gas station and slow-mart. There is nothing here. Eli, Rita and Steve rode in the van most of the day since it was a really tough one. Becky's new tire seems to be working great. Phil and Steve are cooking tonight so I have eaten lots of snacks. Only 70 miles tomorrow.

Thursday evening update:: We had a 2 hour thunderstorm in the late afternoon as Phil, Steve and Dave were cooking spaghetti. There was probably about 2 inches of rain. We had to move 4 tents out of floods. I've attached a picture of Becky's floating tent, next to Janet's, and a picture of me along the route just past the edge of wetness.

  1. If you ride by a USPS drop box don't forget to drop your tax return into it. Remember that no matter how long the 81 miles seems the tax pukes will be working a much longer day madly filing extenstions.

  3. Hey Pedalers --->
    I've been enjoying a more then unusual WI spring, inform sharyn it's 20-25 degrees above average, dry and windy. her house is fine and no plant casulities to report.
    Your soap opera of weather continues, and yes I have been watching the weather for "down south" or should I think 'northern Mexico"?
    You all ride safe!
    Life is good.
