April 19 Day 29, riding day 26, 58 miles, 1,594.7 miles cuml.

Today we rode from Comfort TX to the Shady Oak RV park 6 miles west of Wimberley TX. We probably hit the halfway point today, but we will celebrate tomorrow in Austin, which should be something like 40 miles -- a short day.

We are in the Texas hill country which is so green and colorful due to all the recent rainstorms. And there are hills, up and down and up and down. We went through one road construction site today where there was a pilot car on a dirt road, with a grader that almost put a load of rock and dirt on Phil and me, but we made it through the 2 miles of dirt, EFI. Phil later took a turn too fast and came within an inch of biting the dust into a barbed wire fence, and I would have had a view of it too close for comfort as the hills continued.

There was a shuttle operation this morning as half the group stayed in a campgound 20 miles from the route, but all made it in ok. Phil and I made it at 1pm, and the others arrived between 330pm and 6pm.

Flower pictures were not taken by me, but were graciously donated by Alice.
