Today we were greeted with a nice rainstorm that started at 6:30 am as people were getting out of their tents and getting ready for 7:00 breakfast. This caused a scramble to pack stuff quickly. We then had to change our route since a bridge was out due to the floods from all of the rain over the past few days. One town fairly close by got 11 inches yesterday. We have not seen that much but we have seena lot of rain. We continued on Rt 90 through Uvalde and a few other towns and are in Hondo, TX, tonight. We will head north to Comfort tomorrow to rejoin the prescribed route, and then to Wimberly on Monday, and then to Austin Tuesday with a rest day Wednesday.

The first 40 or so miles were wet, wet, wet today. I sound like a broken record, but the dry barren wasteland of west texas is really a wet barren wasteland. I holed up in a McDonalds in Uvalde for an hour to dry off and to let the rain pass, then continued on in dry conditions, ending up at 2pm in Hondo after a 7:30 start. Eli rode in the van today, Steve rode the final few miles in the van, and the rest of the riders made it by about 5:30pm.
