Day 18, April 8, Las Cruces NM to El Paso (actually eastern suburb of Clint) Texas, 75.5 miles, 934.3 miles cuml miles

The pictures are of a pecan grove restaurant and the El Paso County building.

Thursday's ride was 75.5 miles into the wind which took Phil and me 7 hours and 20 minutes. We took the "regular" routh through El Paso, with permission, and the rest of the group rode the "alternate" route thru Anthony Gap north of the mountains north of El Paso to avoid that city traffic for the most part. The alternate route was about 9 miles longer. We ended at a dusty RV Park in Clint, TX.

This will make Friday's ride to Fort Hancock short at about 30 miles since we are so far east of El Paso already.

General trivia
We had beef stroganoff and salad and apple pie for dinner Wedesday night -- Becky and Phil were cooks; well, Becky did the cooking. Janet and I were scheduled to cook today in El Paso, but the boss is taking us out to dinner :). For routine, breakfast is generally at 7am. Lunch fixings are also set out then. Breakfast is usually cereal, oatmeal, coffee, bagels, bananas, etc. Lunch is sandwich makings and cookies and fruit that you pack for the day. At a 7am start, most people can start by about 8 if they are organized and have their tent, etc., packed. We usually have second breakfast somewhere on the road, then first lunch, then second lunch when we arrive.
